After a long wait, the Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant on November 21, 2024, for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, alleging they committed crimes within its jurisdiction under its 1998 Statute. This warrant was welcomed and supported by some countries and international and security organizations, while others were divided between those who were hesitant and those who rejected it. Given this reality, questions arise about the fate of this warrant and the extent to which it can be implemented against individuals with these characteristics who hold the citizenship of a country supported by the United States. Therefore, we will attempt to analyze the legal and political situation in light of international precedents to determine whether the aforementioned warrant can be implemented.
